Social Media Guidelines

Definition:  For the purposes of this document social media is considered all social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, You Tube, all bookmarking sites (ex. Stumble Upon,) emails written on Hidden Valley’s behalf, the Hidden Valley Blog and the Hidden Valley official website.  In addition to the accounts held by Hidden Valley for their own use, these policies must also be adhered to on personal accounts.  None of these policies are meant in any way to stifle freedom of speech rather to engender a social network that is unified and reflects the goals, strategy and tactics of Hidden Valley.
Goals, Strategy and Tactics:  Our goal is to provide our guests, travelers, full time RVers, staff and residents at Hidden Valley with a memorable and pleasant experience while at our park and as far as we can, for their entire visit to San Antonio.  This is accomplished by an overall pleasant attitude and a focus on extraordinary customer service.
These guidelines apply on both your personal accounts and company social media accounts to which you have access.  Hidden Vallians are personally responsible for the content they publish on all forms of media.

  1. Be kind.  Hidden Vallians should be fair and courteous to fellow associates, customers, members, suppliers or others who work with or in behalf of Hidden Valley. Citing or referencing these should only be done with their approval.  Think carefully about how anything you publish about someone will sound to the public or affect the person to whom you are referring.
  2. Post only appropriate content.  Maintain the confidentiality of company trade secrets and private or confidential information including company performance or income.  When expressing your opinions, clarify them as personal opinions; don’t represent yourself as a company spokesperson without permission.  Content regarding conditions of employment is not appropriate to disclose.  If in question, always ask before publishing info.
  3. Respecting your audience should also include care in topics that could be inflammatory or objectionable like politics or religion.  Care should also be exercised not to use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenities, or any conduct you would not use at Hidden Valley in your position here.
  4.  Correct your own mistakes.  Work to avoid fights and diffuse them.
  5. Be honest, accurate.  This includes never posting information or rumors that are known to be false or even info that is not verifiable.
  6. Identify yourself.  Use your name when discussing Hidden Valley and make it clear that you are speaking for yourself and not on behalf of Hidden Valley.  A disclaimer could be used, stating something to the effect that “The postings on this site are my own and do not represent the position of Hidden Valley RV Park.”  If you identify yourself as a Hidden Valley employee in a social media profile make sure that any related content is consistent with how you want to be viewed by fellow employees, guests, the managers or owner
  7. Try to add value.  Provide worthwhile information.  Our brand is best represented by you and what you publish may reflect on Hidden Valley’s brand.
  8. Use of social media at work: Use balance in your use of company equipment for personal messaging.  Only use our logo or trademarks if given approval.
  9. When sending out emails, please use the appropriate templates for Thank you letters, reservation confirmations, etc.  Only make additions with approval on an individual basis.
  10. Media contacts: don’t address the press without checking with management in advance.  If a situation involving the press arises, refrain from giving any information till management arrives on the scene.
As long as these basic rules of common sense and courtesy are maintained, staff is encouraged to participate through comments and even posting on company sites if assigned, with content that will be a benefit to our guests and residents and engender a positive relationship and enjoyable experience both online and off.  We encourage you to connect your accounts to company accounts by liking and/or friending Hidden Valley pages and accounts.  Our accounts can be accessed as follows:
LinkedIn:  http://linkd.in/KFuzlh    (shortened link-business account)
LinkedIn:  http://www.linkedin.com/company/920828?trk=tyah  (Company account)

Please feel free to suggest other procedures to simplify or organize the system.  We will consider them as these procedures are a work in progress.
